Doosan expands crawler excavator lineup
Winter 2011
Doosan is expanding its line of durable crawler excavators with the introduction of two new models: the DX140LCR and the DX235LCR (LCR means long carriage, reduced tail swing). Both models have a reduced tail swing that enables them to work in confined areas without sacrificing performance, visibility or stability. They and have spacious cabs with ergonomic controls for operator comfort.
Areas such as busy roadways and railways — and working next to buildings — are ideally suited to the DX140LCR and DX235LCR. Their 4.8 and 3.75 inches of tail swing, respectively, minimize interference with adjacent traffic lanes and allow positioning the machine closer to structures.
Unmatched performance
The long carriage (LC) design of the DX140LCR and DX235LCR optimizes performance in heavy digging and lifting operations. A best-in-class 99 horsepower Cummins® diesel engine powers the DX140LCR, while the DX235LCR has a 166 horsepower Doosan turbocharged diesel engine.
Both excavators have exceptional digging performance to maximize productivity; the DX140LCR leads its weight class in maximum digging depth (see specification section). The DX140LCR comes standard with a 0.5-cubic-yard bucket, and the DX235LCR has a 1.2-cubic-yard bucket. The power boost feature on the DX235LCR increases both bucket breakout force and arm breakout force by nearly 5 percent - the highest of any excavator in its class.
A load-sensing piston pump and closed center valve on both models enable fine metering of hydraulic flow for smooth, precise machine control and reduced hydraulic noise. Cushioned hydraulic cylinders on the boom and arm provide smooth, end-of-stroke operation.
Working modes
Three working modes are available: power, standard or economy. Power mode uses 100 percent of available engine and hydraulic horsepower for heavy work and fast cycle times. Standard mode utilizes 75 percent (DX235LCR) and 85 percent (DX140LCR) of engine and hydraulic horsepower for general work and normal speed. Economy mode manages the engine and hydraulic system which minimizes fuel consumption.
Standard features like auto idle reduce fuel consumption and noise and provide a comfortable environment for the operator and bystanders. The noise level at the operator's ear is 71 to 72 dB(A) while the noise level for bystanders is at 101 to 103 dB(A).
Simple service
Like larger Doosan excavators, engine service intervals start at 500 hours. Centralized grease points come standard on all Doosan excavators. Hoses and electrical wires are clearly labeled with organized routings. The water trap and engine oil filters — located in the hydraulic pump bay — can be easily accessed from the ground level.
Parts guarantee
Like every Doosan machine, the DX140LCR and DX235LCR are covered by a 48-hour parts guarantee to minimize downtime. The program guarantees that if a machine-debilitating part is needed, Doosan will deliver this part to the end user within two business days or Doosan will pay for a machine rental. Doosan parts are shipped from the North American Parts Distribution Center located near Atlanta, Ga.
